Absences
It is the responsibility of the parents or guardian to provide a note to the office confirming an absence, in advance if possible. We are happy to accept a telephone message at the school office, 250-674-3328, in place of a note from parents.
Excused and Planned Absences
The absence must be acceptable to the school administration and the School Board. Students are responsible for the work missed and must make prior arrangements with their course teachers to make up assignments, tests, etc.
Only the following are classified as excused absences: Medical, Family Holiday, Hospital, Parent-Called-In Sickness, Suspension, Medical Room, Planned Absence, Weather.
Unexcused Absences
Students who are truant will be assigned consequences and be expected to make up the class time missed.
Frequent Absences
If students are frequently absent, the administration may suggest an alternative educational program to any student who has accumulated absences to the extent that:
(a) his/her success in the course(s) appears unlikely
(b) the student’s poor attendance is detracting from the educational environment for the other students within the school.
