Internet Use Policy
Policy 403.2 School District No. 73 (Kamloops/Thompson)
School District No. 73 is excited to offer your child the opportunity to utilize the Internet as part of his/her educational experience at school. From a computer at the school your child can be linked to other schools in the district and to the millions of computers of the Internet. Using this resource, your child will be able to access information on a host of topics all over the world. As well, opportunities will be provided to participate in telecommunication projects which link students and teachers from British Columbia to the rest of Canada and around the world.
As you are aware, there is also a dark side to Internet use. This District believes that the benefits of Internet outweigh the potential risks but feels obligated to inform parents of potential problems related to Internet access. If your child chooses to violate District policy and guidelines, he or she may be able to access information of a pornographic, violent, or racist nature. With the Waiver and Acceptable Use Policy (available at the school office) School District No. 73 wishes to inform you of these dangers and to make very clear that the responsibility for appropriate use of the SD No. 73 Net lies mainly with your child, within the context of appropriate supervisory practices by school staff. Please read the attached information thoroughly.
